Disaster Mitigation and Recovery
The firm is skilled in both the development and implementation of programs to assist local governments in recovering from major flooding and other disasters and mitigating against future events. A common denominator has been our ability to combine several funding sources, resulting in significantly greater resources beyond disaster relief monies.
Funds have been received from Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Economic Development Association (EDA), Small Business Association (SBA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), each using components of their various programs as leverage. Recent clients include the City of Franklin and Gloucester County, both in Virginia, as a result of Hurricanes Floyd (1999), Isabel (2003), Gaston (2004) and Ernesto (2006). We have also worked with the Town of Moss Point, Mississippi, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina (2005).
